Amirali Shakoorian
Amirali started his career as an architect, and over the last 18 years has worked as an architect, contractor, project manager, and real estate developer on projects encompassing a diverse blend of project types, clients, and challenges.
Prior to Urbanworks, Amirali worked at Aurora Development, a real estate development services company. At Aurora, Amirali was in charge of overseeing entitlements, design, permitting, and construction of a number of different building types, including high-rise and low-rise residential and commercial offices, totaling more than 4 million square feet of space. He managed projects in Los Angeles and later in San Francisco, where he established the firm’s Bay Area office. In addition to the implementation responsibilities at Aurora, he was one of the main principals in charge of establishing a new development division within the company, where he directly sourced and underwrote several multi-family and commercial office deals.

Lelia Scheu
A licensed architect and an attorney, Lelia brings almost 20 years of experience in fields of architecture, construction, and law to Urbanworks. As an architect, Lelia worked on projects of various scales and complexities for private and institutional clients. As an attorney, Lelia has experience on both plaintiff and developer sides of construction litigation. During law school, she focused on Real Estate matters and Community Economic Development and externed at the Real Property/Housing Court of the San Francisco Superior Court.
At Urbanworks, in addition to dealing with legal, property, and compliance issues, Lelia searches out and performs the initial evaluation of development projects and assists the project management team.

Brent Schroeder
Brent Schroeder brings 13 years of work in public and private sector environmental and urban planning to Urbanworks. He is an experienced strategist who understands the issues that intersect urban development and socio-environmental concerns.
With core skills in community development, public outreach, environmental impact analysis, and green building, Brent understands how issues raised at preliminary stages of a project can color and influence the final form and function of a project. Brent joined Urbanworks to focus his career on “place-making” – envisioning, designing and delivering inspired projects that preserve and enhance the local community.

Jean Paul “JP” Broc
Born and raised in Mexico City, JP is passionate about the intersection of urban planning, architectural design, and real estate development. He joined Urbanworks to further explore this dynamic, and to help solve the sprawling conditions of Los Angeles through thoughtful density-oriented design.
With his architectural background and previous work experience in architectural residential design, real estate finance, and high-end construction management, JP uses his creative, analytical, and organizational skills to approach every stage of the project. Outside of the office, JP enjoys spending time with his dog Paco, and is a tennis fanatic.
